This is genuine pre-2015 Tomoegawa (Tomoegawa) Tomoe River 52gsm paper, produced on the legendary Machine 7 (Early Batch).
It comes from old stock acquired from a printing company's warehouse that was involved in manufacturing Hobonichi Techo Weeks planners over 10 years ago.
I personally used some for my hobby, but due to warehouse space constraints, I'm selling it in smaller lots.
Since it's discontinued, this is limited stock / irregular listings only—once gone, no more!
【Production Background & Rarity】
The current Tomoe River S is made by Sanzen Paper.
This is the original pre-Sanzen version produced by Tomoegawa.
Among Tomoegawa batches, this is from the famous early production on Machine 7 (pre-2015), known as the "Early Batch."
(Later Tomoegawa production shifted to Machine 9, with slightly different texture and ink performance.)
In overseas fountain pen communities (Reddit r/fountainpens, Fountain Pen Network, etc.), it's revered as "OG Tomoe River," "legendary Machine 7," or "pre-Sanzen original" and trades at high prices.
Especially the Machine 7 Early Batch is famous for bringing out exceptional ink sheen (metallic gloss), shading (color variation), and vibrant color development!
