これはレプリカではありません。 昭和28年（1953年）、戦後復興の熱気の中で生まれた「正真正銘のオリジナル」を、3ヶ月もの時間をかけ、現代に実用機として蘇らせた一台です。
■ 闇夜に「怪しく輝く」マジックアイ
本機の最大の魅力は、フロントパネルで異彩を放つ同調指示管（マジックアイ）です。 部屋の照明を落とし、電源を入れると、真空管の温まりとともに緑色の光がボゥっと浮かび上がります。ダイヤルを回して同調点を探ると、その緑の瞳が生き物のように開閉し、怪しくも美しい輝きで選局を知らせてくれます。 現代のデジタル表示にはない、真空管全盛期ならではの幻想的な光の演出を、ぜひその目でお確かめください。
■ 幻のブランド「Elman（エルマン）」
製造元の大洋無線電機は、かつて秋葉原の広瀬商会（現・ヒロセ無線）の製造部門として名を馳せた名門です。1962年に姿を消したため、現存する個体は極めて少なく、今では「幻のブランド」と呼ばれています。 このHS-57は、社名変更期に発売された貴重なモデル。当時の高級機らしく、和室の床の間にも映える堂々とした筐体を持っています。
■ 3ヶ月を費やした執念のフルレストア
入手時は外装こそ奇跡的に無傷でしたが、内部は72年の歳月により劣化していました。「当時の音色を再び聴きたい」という一心で、類似モデル（HS-59）の回路図を元に再生に挑みました。電気回路の一新： 抵抗、コイル、バリコン、トランス以外の劣化部品・配線をほぼ全て新品に交換。外装の美化： キャビネットの再塗装、スピーカーネットの張り替えを実施。
安全への配慮： コンデンサ液漏れや配線断線を解消し、安心して通電できる状態へ。
かつて諦めかけたほどの難修理でしたが、見事に戦前の輝きとサウンドを取り戻しました。

A Melody Resurrected Through Time: The "Elman HS-57" Fully Restored
This is not a replica, nor is it a mere display piece. Born in 1953 during Japan's post-war reconstruction, this is an authentic original masterpiece. Over a period of three months, it has been meticulously restored into a fully functional unit for the modern age.
■ The "Magic Eye" Glowing Mysteriously in the Dark
The most captivating feature of this radio is the tuning indicator tube—the "Magic Eye"—which stands out beautifully on the front panel. When you dim the lights and turn on the power, a green light emerges as the tubes warm up. As you turn the dial to tune into a station, the green eye opens and closes like a living creature, guiding you with a mysterious and enchanting glow. ■ The "Phantom Brand" Elman
The manufacturer, Taiyo Musen Denki, was once a renowned production division of Hirose Shokai (now Hirose Musen) in Akihabara. Since the company disappeared in 1962, existing units are extremely rare, making Elman a true "Phantom Brand" among collectors. This HS-57 is a rare model released during a transitional period for the company. With its majestic cabinet, it was a high-end luxury item at the time, designed to be displayed proudly in a Japanese "Tokonoma" (alcove).
■ A 3-Month Labor of Love: Full Restoration
Although the housing was miraculously pristine when found, the internal circuitry had deteriorated over 72 years. Driven by a passion to "hear the original sound once again," I dedicated myself to its restoration, using the schematic of the similar HS-59 model as a guide.
Circuitry Overhaul: Apart from the coils, variable capacitors (varicons), and transformers, almost all degraded electronic parts and wiring (resistors, capacitors, etc.) have been replaced with new ones.
Exterior Refinement: The cabinet has been repainted, and the speaker grille cloth has been replaced.
Safety First: Issues such as leaking capacitors and broken wires have been resolved, ensuring it is safe to power on.
It was a difficult repair process, and at one point I almost gave up, but the radio has now successfully reclaimed its pre-war shine and sound.

① 本製品は大洋無線製「エルマン HS-57」です。付属品は音楽プレーヤ等接続用のオーディオ・ケーブルとなります。ラジオ受信用の外部アンテナは絶対に必要ですので落札者様にてご手配願います。受信場所にもよりますがリード導線5m以上を屋外に設置し、背面のねじ止め端子(A)に繋ぐだけでOKです。電源はAC100Vとなります。
This product is the Ocean Wireless “Elman HS-57”. The included accessory is an audio cable for connecting devices such as music players. An external antenna is absolutely essential for radio reception; please arrange for one yourself. Depending on your location, simply install a lead wire of at least 5 meters outdoors and connect it to the screw terminal (A) on the rear panel. The power supply is AC 100V.

③ 本体寸法(Dimension)は50cm(幅W)ｘ30cm(高H) 25cm(奥D)、重量（Weight）は約8.1kgあり、大型の迫力と重厚感があります。
④ 木製キャビネットは無垢材を使った角のとれた丁寧な仕上げでもはや工芸品です。表面処理後ニスを塗装し高級家具の様に仕上げました。裏蓋もオリジナルです。
The wooden cabinet is made of solid wood and is a very elaborate work of craftsmanship. After surface treatment, it was coated with varnish to give it the look of high-end furniture. Back cover attached is original.
⑤ 使用真空管はＳＴ管の６ＷＣ５、６Ｄ６、６Ｚ－ＤＨ３Ａ、ＵＺ－４２、80HK及びマジックアイ６E５の６球です。不正改造等無く、オリジナルの真空管がそのまま使われています。マジックアイの表示部は経年劣化のためちょっと暗いですが、チューニングが合うとちゃんと光って眼がひらきます。
The vacuum tubes used are six ST tubes: 6WC5, 6D6, 6Z-DH3A, UZ-42, 80HK, and the Magic Eye 6E5. No unauthorized modifications have been made; the original vacuum tubes are still in use. The Magic Eye display is a bit dim due to aging, but it lights up properly and opens its eyes when tuned correctly.
⑥ スピーカは6.5インチ（17センチ）の大型スピーカでほぼ無傷の状態でしたが、スピーカに取り付けられたオーディオトランスが断線のため使用不可でした。同一規格の新品のトランスに交換し、無事に復活しました。大口径のスピーカからは大音量・高音質のサウンドが出力されます。付属の3.5mmプラグケーブルで音楽プレーヤに接続し、スピーカで聴くこともできます。
The speaker was a large 6.5-inch (17 cm) unit in nearly pristine condition, but the audio transformer attached to it was unusable due to a broken wire. I replaced it with a new transformer of the same specifications, successfully restoring it to working order.
⑦ 周波数表示用のダイアル糸は切断されていたので新品のナイロン糸に交換しました。
The dial thread for the frequency display had been cut, so I replaced it with new nylon thread.
⑧ 音量調整用VOLUMEノブについている可変抵抗器は内部腐食が酷く全く使えない状態でしたので新品と交換しました。音量調整および外部入力切替スイッチとして使います。
The variable resistor on the VOLUME knob for volume adjustment was severely corroded internally and completely unusable, so it was replaced with a new one. It will be used for volume adjustment and as an external input selector switch.
⑨ スピーカ・ネットは堅牢なポリエステル製ネット新品に貼り替え済みです。
The speaker grille has been replaced with a new, durable polyester mesh.
⑩ ４個のつまみはすべてオリジナルで洗浄済みです。

⑪ 電源コードは劣化が激しくボロボロで非常に危険でしたので、電気用品安全法（PSE）対応の新品の電源コードに交換済みですので安心してお使いください。
The power cord was very deteriorated, tattered, and extremely dangerous. It has been replaced with a new cable that complies with the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Law (PSE), so please use it with safe.
⑫ 劣化の程度に関わらず、コンデンサは全て現在入手可能な同等規格の物と交換済みです。交換済み旧部品の写真をご確認ください。電源用のブロックコンデンサはドライアウトして使えませんですが、外観を保つため無接続で設置してあります。
Regardless of the degree of deterioration, all capacitors have been replaced with currently available equivalent specifications. Please refer to the photos of the replaced old parts. The power supply block capacitors are dried out and unusable, but they have been installed unconnected to maintain appearance.
⑬ 受信回路は調整済みです。現代のラジオと同様スーパーヘテロダイン方式を採用しています。ラジオを受信するには外部アンテナを接続して下さい。電源SWITCH（左1）を入れるとディスプレーが点灯します。音量VOLUME（右2）を回し真ん中にセットします。真空管が温まるまで約20秒待って、TUNINGノブ（右1）をゆっくりと回すと同調した周波数で放送がスピーカから聞こえてきます。音質はTONEノブ（左2）で微調整し最もよく聞こえるポイントで受信します。在京局は全局受信確認が取れています。
音楽プレーヤ等を接続して聴きたい時は付属品のケーブルの片端をそれぞれ裏面のねじ端子（Ｐ及びＥ）に接続し、3.5ｍｍプラグを音楽プレーヤのイヤホンジャックに差します。音量ボリュームをカチッというまで左にいっぱい回し、外部入力モードに切り替えます。真空管が温まるまとスピーカから音楽プレーヤで再生した音が聞こえます。とても不思議です。音量は音楽プレーヤ側のボリュームで調節します。
The receiver circuit is tuned. Like modern radios, it employs a superheterodyne system. To receive radio broadcasts, connect an external antenna. Turning on the power switch (left 1) illuminates the display. Turn the VOLUME knob (right 2) to set it to the center position. Wait approximately 20 seconds for the vacuum tubes to warm up. Slowly turn the TUNING knob (right 1) to tune in to a frequency where broadcasts can be heard through the speaker. Fine-tune the sound quality using the TONE knob (left 2) and receive at the point where it sounds best. Reception of all Tokyo-based stations has been confirmed.
To listen via a music player, connect one end of the included cable to the corresponding screw terminals (P and E) on the rear panel. Plug the 3.5mm jack into your music player's headphone jack. Turn the volume knob all the way left until it clicks to switch to external input mode. Once the vacuum tube warms up, you'll hear the music player's output through the speaker. It's quite magical. Adjust the volume using the volume control on the music player itself.
