Rare Set of 3 Antique Seto Ware Sometsuke Peony Nesting Bowls (Mitsugasane-bachi) - Enokagase Mark, Meiji Era
Item Description:
This is a stunning set of three nesting bowls (Mitsugasane-bachi) from my family's private collection, dating back over 100 years to the late Edo to Meiji period.
These are Seto ware featuring "Sometsuke" (blue and white) peony designs. The deep indigo of the Gosu pigment is beautifully accented with iron-brown strokes, creating a powerful yet elegant floral motif. Finding a complete three-piece set that includes a large bowl exceeding 20cm is quite rare. They are designed to nest perfectly within one another.
The base of each bowl bears the square seal mark "Enokagase" (榎ヶ瀬).
