①は、
『ザ・バーズがデビュー前の64年にデモ・レコーデイングした通称‘ワールド・パシフィック・セッション’のコンプリート版の登場だ。かつては‘Early L.A’‘Preflyte’‘in The Beginning’に収録されてきた楽曲群に加え、今回初出のテイクを16曲も追加。貴重な写真が満載の52ページの豪華ブックレットも嬉しい。内容の方だが、前身のビーフィターズ、ジェット・セット時代にも増して、グループ加入以前のデヴィッド・クロスビーのソロ4曲(うちSIDE2-⑨⑩は今回初登場)に、まず目を奪われる。のち67年頃に開花することになる彼の幻想的な作風の発芽が、すでに垣間見れるのが興味深い。この時期のバーズは、まだ‘フォークとロックの融合’というより、‘ビートルズ的なるもの’を自分たちの体内に取り込むことを目標としていたことは一目瞭然だが、それにしてもジーン・クラークの作曲能力の高さは目を見張るものがある。ウエスト・コースト・サウンドの無垢な第一歩に感動。』

尚、この商品には<外箱>が付いていますが、当時の隙間に余裕のないCD梱包を開封する際にカッターで上部が切れています。中のプラケース及び盤は20年以上箱に守られていましたので綺麗な状態で問題ありません。その様な商品であることをご理解の上ご検討下さい。

1969年2月22日のマサチューセッツ州ボストンでのライヴ音源CD。後に英国盤でリリースされますが、そちらは<全17曲56分>収録ですが、このYellow Dog盤は<全22曲69分>の収録。全曲収録と思いきや同日のSETLISTを調べたところ「EIGHT MILES HIGH」「SING ME BACK HOME」「FIDE」等が演奏されているようです。この時期のメンバーは、G/Vo/ロジャー・マッギン、G/Vo/クラレンス・ホワイト、Dr/Vo/ジーン・パーソンズ、B/ジョン・ヨークという布陣。特筆すべきは、6曲目でポール・バター・フィールド・ブルース・バンドの「Get Out Of My Life, Woman」をレパートリーに入れている事。確かドアーズも同じ時期この曲をレパートリーに入れていました。
③は、
1967年4月24日スウェーデンの港湾都市ヨーテボリでのライヴ音源CD。<10曲30分>の収録ですが、最初のロジャーのメンバー紹介や曲紹介を聴くと6曲目までがTV番組の音源のようです。メンバーは、G/Vo/ロジャー・マッギン、B/クリス・ヒルマン、Dr/マイケル・クラーク、G/Vo/デヴィッド・クロスビーの4人。但し、6曲名以降が同じメンバーの1967年の録音かどうかは曲目からしてかなり疑わしいです。「LOVE ON THE BAYOU」はこの時点ではでどのライヴでも披露されていないので⑧⑨⑩の曲目からはおそらく70年代に入ってからのライヴ録音と思われます。⑩は正規盤[UNTITLED]のライヴサイド2曲目と同じ音源のようですが、他はまた違う音源のようです。

This is the complete version of The Byrds' so-called 'World Pacific Sessions,' a demo recording made in 1964 before their debut. In addition to tracks previously included on 'Early L.A,' 'Preflyte,' and 'In The Beginning,' 16 previously unreleased takes have been added. A luxurious 52-page booklet full of valuable photographs is also included. As for the content, even more so than during his time with the Beefeaters and Jet Set, the first thing that catches the eye is the four solo tracks by David Crosby from before he joined the group (of which tracks 9 and 10 on Side 2 are appearing for the first time). It's fascinating to see the beginnings of his fantastical style, which would later blossom around 1967. It's clear that at this time, The Byrds were aiming to incorporate something "Beatles-esque" into their own style rather than simply "fusing folk and rock," but even so, Gene Clark's songwriting ability is remarkable. I was moved by this innocent first step of the West Coast sound. 』

"The Byrds' rehearsal sessions held at World Pacific Studios in L.A. in 1964, the year before their debut with 'Mr. Tambourine Man,' have been released in various forms over the years, such as 'Prefright' and 'In the Beginnings,' but this double LP is the definitive edition, containing a total of 40 tracks, including 15 previously unreleased tracks. The musical excellence and the richness of the booklet provide the satisfaction that only Sundaydazed can offer. These guys, who had been passionately engaged with folk music, tried to electrify it after being inspired by the Beatles, and eventually landed on their own unique style of 'folk rock'... This album is a vivid and thrilling document of that process. The repeated 'Oh yeah!'s are endearing." One of the finest treasure tracks, track 10 on Side 2, is a solo recording by David Crosby, who was taught directly by Dino Valente, and is said to be even earlier than the Youngblatts' recordings.

"Compared to their CBS sound from '66 onwards, there's an undeniable sense of it being a learning exercise, but these pre-debut, '64 recordings have been released on CD. First released in '69 when they had already gained fame, and reissued several times since, these are familiar sounds to fans, but they are precious recordings of The Byrds' beginnings. Four tracks, including "Mr. Tambourine Man," are takes from before they were re-recorded for their first album. Pay attention to "You Should Me," which was a cover hit for The Turtles, and "Airport Song," which shows the influence of The Beach Boys." -Excerpt-'

Please note that this product comes with an outer box, but the top was cut with a cutter when opening the CD packaging, which was tightly sealed at the time. The inner plastic case and disc have been protected in the box for over 20 years and are in excellent condition. Please consider this before purchasing.
② is a CD of live recordings from February 22, 1969, in Boston, Massachusetts. It was later released in the UK, which contains 17 tracks and 56 minutes of music, but this Yellow Dog version contains 22 tracks and 69 minutes of music. While it seems to contain all the songs, a check of the setlist from that day reveals that "EIGHT MILES HIGH," "SING ME BACK HOME," and "FIDE" were performed. The lineup at this time consisted of G/Vo/Roger McGuinn, G/Vo/Clarence White, Dr/Vo/Gene Parsons, and B/John York. Notably, the sixth track is a cover of Paul Butterfield Blues Band's "Get Out of My Life, Woman." The Doors also included this song in their repertoire around the same time.
③ is a CD of live recordings from April 24, 1967, in Gothenburg, a port city in Sweden. It contains 10 tracks and 30 minutes of music, but judging from Roger's introductions of the band members and songs, the first six tracks seem to be from a TV program. The members are G/Vo/Roger McGuinn, B/Chris Hillman, Dr/Michael Clarke, and G/Vo/David Crosby. However, based on the track titles, it's highly questionable whether the tracks from the sixth onwards are from a 1967 recording with the same members. "LOVE ON THE BAYOU" hadn't been performed at any live shows by this point, so tracks 8, 9, and 10 suggest this is likely a live recording from the 1970s. Track 10 appears to be the same audio as the second track on the live side of the official [UNTITLED] album, but the others seem to be from different sources.
