History:
The roots of Takaoka Copperware lie in Kanaya-machi, located along the Senbo River. In 1609, Lord Maeda Toshinaga, the second lord of the Kaga Clan who built Takaoka Castle, invited seven master foundrymen from nearby regions to settle there. This marked the beginning of the industry.
Its global reputation was solidified starting in 1873, when artisan Kanamori Soshichi won an award at the Vienna World’s Fair. Since then, many master craftsmen from Takaoka have received international accolades for their intricate and sophisticated artistry.
