Meiji Period Gold-Imari Style Plate - Auspicious Symbols (Peony & Pine)
[Product History & Highlights]
This is a magnificent family heirloom that has been cherished in my family for approximately 100 years. It is a vibrant and luxurious "Iroe" (multi-colored) plate with gold accents from the Meiji period (late 19th century).
Design: The center ("Mikomi") features a "Kikko" (tortoiseshell) pattern, surrounded by bold peonies and pine trees. These are all "Kissho Monyo" (auspicious motifs) representing longevity and prosperity, making this plate perfect for celebratory occasions like New Year’s.
Craftsmanship: A charming example of the period's artistry, combining traditional "Inban" (transfer printing) with hand-painted details. It has a powerful, rustic presence unique to genuine antique tableware.

[Condition]
Antique Condition: As a piece with over 100 years of history, there is some minor wear to the gold leaf and slight fading of the pigments. However, these do not detract from its antique beauty but rather add to its historic character.
Authenticity: There are minor dark spots (iron or ash deposits) from the original firing process (please see photos).
No major cracks, chips, or "Ny" (hairline cracks) were found.
Please review the photos carefully as they are part of the description.
